Maclaren Juicy Stroller

Please note: Nordstrom sold one style of the Maclaren stroller online and at selected stores between March 2009 and November 2009.


The style sold at Nordstrom was called the Maclaren Juicy Couture “Ryder” Stroller and came in brown and pink with the following style numbers: WOX10553 (online) and WOX010553 (in stores). It had a retail price of $450.

Maclaren USA Recalls to Repair Strollers Following Fingertip Amputations

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.


Name of Product: Maclaren Strollers


Units: About one million


Distributor: Maclaren USA, Inc., of South Norwalk, Conn.


Hazard: The stroller's hinge mechanism poses a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to the child when the consumer is unfolding/opening the stroller.


Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 15 reports of children placing their finger in the stroller's hinge mechanism, resulting in 12 reports of fingertip amputations in the United States.


Description: This recall involves all Maclaren single and double umbrella strollers. The word "Maclaren" is printed on the stroller. The affected models included Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, TechnoXLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller.


Sold at: Babies"R"Us, Target and other juvenile product and mass merchandise retailers nationwide from 1999 through November 2009 for between $100 and $360.


Manufactured in: China


Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled strollers and contact Maclaren USA to receive a free repair kit.

Name of Product: Roxy 'Very Nice' Cotton Hoody (Girls)


Units: About 500


Distributor: Quiksilver, Inc. of Huntington Beach, California


Hazard: The cotton hoody has a waist drawstring that could pose an entrapment hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets or sweatshirts.


Incidents/Injuries: No injuries have been reported.


Description: The cotton hoody, which zips in front and has a drawstring at the waist, came in grey with blue lining and cherry with lavender lining. They were sold in girls' sizes S-XL. ‘ROXY' is printed on the front of the grey hoody and on the neck label on both colors. The style number, B487857, is printed on the inside care label near the waist.


Sold at: Nordstrom, Macy's, Quiksilver stores and various surf, sport and other retailers nationwide from April 2009 through August 2009 for approximately $40.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the hoodies to eliminate the hazard, or return it to the place of purchase or to Quiksilver for a full refund.

Hazard: The heel of the recalled shoes can detach, posing a fall hazard to consumers.


Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received one report of a heel detaching, resulting in minor bruising.


Description: The recall involves various colors and styles of Charles by Charles David brand (item #SAMPCHSHOE) and Charles David of California brand (item #SAMPCDSHOE) women's sample shoes. The shoes were sold in women's sizes 7 and 9. The item number can be located on the original receipt.


Sold at: Nordstrom stores in California and Nordstrom Rack stores nationwide from April 2009 through June 2009 for between $22 and $80.


Manufactured in: China, Spain, and Italy


Remedy: Consumers should stop wearing the recalled shoes immediately and return them to any Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack store for a full refund.

Bugaboo Recalls Strollers Due to Risk of Brake Failure

Name of Product: Bugaboo Bee Strollers


Units: About 22,500


Distributor: Bugaboo North America Inc., of Hermosa Beach, Calif.


Manufacturer: Bugaboo Design & Sales, B.V., of the Netherlands


Hazard: One or both sides of the brakes can fail, causing a stroller to unexpectedly roll away on an incline. This can pose a risk of injury to the child occupant.


Incidents/Injuries: Bugaboo has received 121 reports of the stroller's brakes failing. No injuries have been reported.


Description: Bugaboo Bee strollers have item code 580210 on a label on the back of the seat and item code 50100 on a label on the plastic support under the seat. The strollers were sold in blue, dark khaki, pink, red, yellow, and black. “bugaboo® bee” is printed on the left side of the seat. Sold at: Juvenile product retailers nationwide and on various Web sites from August 2007 through April 2009 for about $530.
