Here's where you'll find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about working at Nordstrom.

How do I find out what positions are available?
Go to find an opportunity and search by keyword, job type or location.

How do I apply for a job?
For the majority of our positions, you can apply online. Our online application will take you through the process of providing your information and completing any required pre-screening. If you are not able to complete an online application, please speak to Human Resources at the location you are interested in.

How can I upload my updated resume to my profile?
You are able to upload your resume only when you create your profile. To update your resume information after you have created your profile, log into your account, click on Access My Profile on the right of the My Jobpage tab. Click to the appropriate screen in your Profile to make your updates.

I applied online. How long does it normally take to be contacted after I apply?
You will receive an automated acknowledgment upon completing the online process. The length of time to review all applicants depends on the position. You can be assured that we will contact you if you meet the qualifications of the position. If you have additional questions, you are welcome to contact the Human Resource office in the location you are interested in.

I didn’t find a job that matches my interests. How can I stay informed of future openings?
You can Create a Profile. Your profile captures work history and education background as well as your job preferences—you can specify the type of job, location or new store opening you’re interested in. Once you create your profile, you can choose to receive email notifications when a job is posted that matches your preferences. It also means that our recruiters will find you if they are searching for work experience like yours.

I’ve added to my work experience since I last applied. How can I update my information?
You can log in to your account and update any part of your profile at any time.

How can I be sure that a position I find online hasn't already been filled?
Once a position has been filled or the job has been closed, it will not appear on the Web site. For additional questions, you are welcome to contact the Human Resource office at the location you are interested in.

Are there opportunities that are not listed on this Web site?
Most of our positions are listed on our career site. Nordstrom has a strong promote-from-within philosophy and there will be times when we look only for internal candidates.

Do you have any part-time jobs?
We do offer part-time jobs, depending on the specific position and business need. As a retail company, we also have seasonal hiring cycles, particularly for sales events and holiday needs.

Do you have any openings for a Buyer or Department Manager?
Most of our Buyer and Department Manager positions are promoted from within. Beginning your career on the selling floor in a Nordstrom Store will offer you the opportunity to advance to a Department Manager or Buyer position.

How do I learn about and apply for a position at your Headquarters offices?
We offer a wide variety of career opportunities at our Headquarters offices located in Seattle, Washington. Some of the areas include Information Technology, Accounting/Finance, Marketing, Product Design and Development and Human Resources.

What should I wear to my interview?
We are a fashion specialty retailer and sell a wide range of styles. For the interview, business professional is appropriate.

What is the minimum age to work at Nordstrom?
Nordstrom does not have a policy prohibiting the hiring of minors. As always, we follow applicable state and federal guidelines pertaining to hours of work limitations and prohibited duties. This may mean that for some positions, business need necessitates employing individuals who are not minors.

What types of opportunities do you offer for career advancement?
We continue to expand with stores located nationwide. This means we have many promotion opportunities in our Stores as well as in our Headquarters offices. You can create your own career path and your success depends on you.

Does Nordstrom provide relocation assistance?
We offer relocation support for qualifying positions.

Do you have a college recruitment program?
Each of our locations is responsible for identifying local colleges that support their hiring needs. We also offer summer internships for college juniors and seniors.

I am a former Nordstrom employee. How do I reapply?
Thanks for your interest in returning to work for our Company. If you want to work at a Store, contact the Human Resource office at the location of your choice to reapply as a former employee. If you want to work at our Headquarters offices, please submit your resume online for the position you're interested in.

How do I apply to work at a new store that hasn't opened yet?
On the Job Match pages of your profile, you can select any future store opening that you are interested in. When the store is ready to accept applications, you will receive an email inviting you to apply.

Do you offer the option to telecommute?
Due to the nature of our business, there are very limited opportunities for telecommuting.

Do you subsidize transportation?
Please see our Benefits page for information about transportation and other benefits.

Can I apply for multiple positions?                                
Yes. The My Job Cart feature of your profile allows you to keep track of jobs that you may be interested in, then apply when you are ready, assuming the job is still posted. We will review your qualifications for the jobs you apply for as well as other positions that may be suitable.

If I refer a friend, how is their information used?
Referring a job to a friend is a one-time communication. Nordstrom will not keep their email address on file unless they create an account. For more information, please review the Nordstrom Privacy Policy.

I’ve forgotten my user name. How can I retrieve it?
Go to User Name Candidate Profile and click on Forgot Your User Name link to have your user name emailed to you.

I’ve forgotten my password. How can I reset it?
Go to Candidate Profile and click on Forgot Your Password link to reset your password.

How do I stop receiving notifications when new positions are posted?
To stop receiving notifications of newly posted positions, log into your profile, click on My Account Options at the top of the Job Search tab, scroll to the Correspondence section at the bottom of the page and change the job posting notification flag to "No".

I don’t have an email address—how can I apply for a position at Nordstrom?
Although we strongly encourage you to create an email account and apply for positions online because you can create and save your candidate profile, apply for jobs and receive email notifications when new positions are posted that match your interests, you can also apply for positions in person at any Nordstrom store.

I’m experiencing technical issues during the application process. How can I get help?
For technical support during the application process, email app-techsupport@nordstrom.com. We will respond to your inquiry as quickly as possible during our regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. PST).
