Internship Program Requirements

Our internship programs are open to active college seniors and juniors who are slated to graduate in 2014 and 2015 respectively, and the MBA program is open to first-year MBA students. You must also be enrolled in accredited institutions and applicable degree programs, such as fashion merchandising, marketing, retail, business, finance and information technology. Additionally, select graduates of our MBA Internship Program will have the opportunity to participate in our two-year MBA Leadership Rotation Program.

Question: Where can I find the list of job openings?
Answer: Follow the Search Jobs link — it will take you to our job postings. You can search for positions by keyword, job type or location.
Question: How do I apply for a job?
Answer: For the majority of our positions, you can apply online. First, you'll need to create a profile/account then you can apply online. Our online application will take you through the process of providing your information and completing any required pre-screening. If you are not able to complete an online application, please contact the Human Resources office at any Nordstrom location.
Question: I applied online. How long does it normally take to be contacted after I apply?
Answer: You will receive an automated acknowledgment upon completing the online process. The length of time to review all applicants depends on the position. You can be assured that we will contact you if you meet the qualifications of the position. If you have additional questions, please contact the Human Resource office at any Nordstrom location.
Question: I didn't find a job that matches my interests. How can I stay informed of future openings?
Answer: You'll want to create a profile. Your profile captures work history and education background as well as your job preferences—you can specify the type of job, location or new store opening you're interested in. Once you create your profile, you can choose to receive email notifications when a job is posted that matches your preferences. It also means that our recruiters will find you if they are searching for work experience like yours.
Question: How can I be sure that a position I find online hasn't already been filled?
Answer: Once a position has been filled or the job has been closed, it will not appear on the website. For additional questions, you are welcome to contact the Human Resource office at the location you are interested in.
Question: Do you have part-time jobs?
Answer: We occasionally offer part-time jobs, depending on the specific position and business need. As a retail company, we also have seasonal hiring cycles, particularly for sales events and holiday needs.
Question: Do you have any openings for a buyer or department manager?
Answer: Most of our buyer and department manager positions are promoted from within. Beginning your career on the selling floor in a Nordstrom Store will offer you the opportunity to advance to a department manager or buyer position.
Question: What should I wear to my interview?
Answer: We are a fashion specialty retailer and sell a wide range of styles. For the interview, business professional is appropriate.
Question: What is the minimum age requirement for working at Nordstrom?
Answer: Nordstrom does not have a policy prohibiting the hiring of minors. As always, we follow applicable state and federal guidelines pertaining to hours of work limitations and prohibited duties. This may mean that for some positions, business need necessitates employing individuals who are not minors.
Question: Does Nordstrom provide relocation assistance?
Answer: We offer relocation support for qualifying positions.
Question: Do you have a college recruiting program?
Answer: Our college recruiting program happens at the local level, meaning each of our locations is responsible for identifying local colleges that support their hiring needs. We also offer summer internships for college juniors and seniors. Visit our Student Center for more information.
Question: I've worked for Nordstrom before. How do I reapply?
Answer: Thanks for your interest in returning to Nordstrom. You should create a profile then search jobs. By creating a profile, you can set job and location preferences that will automatically send job posting notifications to your inbox. To be considered for a position, all former employees are now required to complete an online application.
Question: How do I apply to work at a new store that hasn't opened yet?
Answer: On the Job Match pages of your profile, you can select any future store opening that you are interested in. When the store is ready to accept applications, you will receive an email notification alerting you that the jobs have been posted.
Question: Do you offer the option to telecommute?
Answer: Due to the nature of our business, there are very limited opportunities for telecommuting.
Question: Can I apply for multiple positions?
Answer: While you can apply for multiple positions, we encourage you to read the job descriptions including the responsibilities and necessary experiences of the jobs you are interested in. Then, apply to the position that you are most qualified. We'll review your qualifications for the job you apply for, as well as other positions that may be suitable.
Question: If I refer a friend, how is their information used?

Answer: We strongly encourage you to create an email account and apply for positions online because you can create and save your profile, apply for jobs and receive email notifications when new positions that match your interests are posted. However, you can also apply for positions in person at any Nordstrom Store.

Question: If I have a dispute arise regarding my application for employment or employment while at Nordstrom, how will it be resolved?
Answer: Nordstrom resolves all disputes arising out of or related to an individual's application for employment or employment with Nordstrom pursuant to the terms of Nordstrom's Dispute Resolution Agreement. A copy of Nordstrom's Dispute Resolution Agreement can be found here or can be obtained from any Nordstrom Human Resources office.
Question: Why should I create a profile/account?
Answer: To make it easy for you to be formally considered for a job at Nordstrom, we ask that you create a profile. It's quick and easy and, by creating your profile, you automatically set up your account. Once you've created your profile, you'll have the opportunity to attach a resume, express your job preferences and create alerts that will provide you with email notifications when jobs that meet your interests are posted. Question: I think I have an account already. How can I confirm?
Answer: If you have applied for a job and/or created a profile on the Nordstrom career site since October 21, 2009, you have an account with us. Follow the Create a Profile link- it will take you to the login page. To have your user name emailed to you, simply click on Forgot Your User Name. If you have forgotten your password, click on Request a Password. A temporary access code will be emailed to you. NOTE: The access code is case sensitive and will be valid for 48 hours.
Question: I want to apply for a job, but I've forgotten my password and/or user name. What should I do?
- If you have forgotten your password, click on the 'Request a Password' link on the Login page. A temporary password will be sent to your email address that is in our system

Question: I am a new user and want to create a profile. Why does the system say a record already exists under the User Name I selected?
Answer: If you click on New User and, while creating a user name and password, the system gives you an error message that says "a valid record already exists under this user name," it means that someone already has an account under the user name you are trying to create. We recommend creating a unique user name that includes both letters and numbers. User names must be 4-32 characters long and cannot contain spaces.
Question: How can I upload my updated resume to my profile?
Answer: You are able to upload your resume only when you create your profile. To update your resume information after you have created your profile, log into your account, click on Access My Profile on the right of the My Jobpage tab. Click to the appropriate screen in your profile to make your updates. NOTE: The maximum file size is 250KB.
Question: I have new work experience to add to my profile. How do I do that?
Answer: Follow the Create a Profile link - it will take you to the login page. You can log in to your account and update any part of your profile at any time.
Question: My email address/phone number has changed since I created my profile. How can I update my information?
Answer: Follow the Create a Profile link — it will take you to the log in page. You can log in to your profile at any time to make changes to your information.
Question: How do I unsubscribe to job posting email notifications?
Answer: To unsubscribe to the job posting notification emails, follow the Search Jobs link. You'll need to log in to your account, click on My Account Options at the top of the Job Search tab, scroll to the Correspondence section and click 'edit'. Then, uncheck the "send an email notification whenever a new position matching this profile becomes available" box and click 'save'. Your email preferences will now be updated.
