NORDSTROM.COM APPOINTS MIKE SMITH PRESIDENT
Smith’s retail industry experience and Internet expertise to enrich company’s executive team
SEATTLE, Wash. - November 13, 2000 - Nordstrom.com, the leading Internet destination for quality fashion goods and services, announced today the appointment of Mike Smith as president. Smith, currently a member of the Nordstrom.com Board of Directors, will bring his vision and leadership to complement that of the Nordstrom.com executive group. Smith will report to Nordstrom.com Chief Executive Officer Dan Nordstrom.

Smith brings more than 17 years worth of traditional, catalog and Internet retail expertise to his new position as president of Nordstrom.com. In this role, Smith will help lead Nordstrom.com on its overall path to profitability, focusing specifically on fine-tuning the company’s catalog operations. Smith will also work closely with the executive team on inventory management, merchandising and marketing initiatives.

Formerly the president and CEO of Lands’ End, Mike Smith is credited with Lands’ End’s successful Internet debut, as well as the launch of the Coming Home catalog. During his 15 years at Lands’ End, Smith led the company to record sales and profits. Smith will continue to serve on the Board of Directors while president of Nordstrom.com. He most recently served as president and CEO of LifeSketch.com, the first online multimedia scrapbook provider, and will remain as chairman.
