NORDSTROM ANNOUNCES NATIONWIDE LAUNCH OF TEEN GIFT CARD Personalized Card Offers More Flexibility To Manage Clothing Budget
SEATTLE, Wash. - August 14, 2001 - Nordstrom, Inc., one of the nation’s leading fashion specialty retailers, today announced the nationwide launch of a personalized gift card that offers rewards for shopping and added protection against loss or theft. Called the BP. Card, it is designed especially for teenage customers of the retailer’s junior department, Brass Plum (BP.). The card is a fun and easy way for customers to purchase merchandise or services at any Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack store. The BP. Card is available in any amount from $10 up to $500.
"Whether customers use the BP. Card to shop for a back-to-school wardrobe, as a fun gift idea or a tool to help manage their clothing budget, we believe both parents and teens will enjoy the freedom and flexibility the BP. Card offers," said Loretta Soffe, vice president and corporate merchandise manager, Brass Plum.
When the BP. Card is used to make a purchase, the amount of the transaction is automatically deducted from its value. If an item purchased with the BP. card is returned, the value can be added back to the card. Other card features include:
• |
A monthly activity summary to help track card purchases. |
• |
The ability to add additional purchasing power to the card, either in person at a Nordstrom store, via phone or through the mail. |
• |
Special offers tailored to what BP. Cardholders like and invitations to great events in Nordstrom stores. |
• |
Once value is added to the card, cardholders will receive a mail-in certificate for a free one-year subscription to YM Magazine, Nordstrom’s exclusive BP. magazine partner. |
• |
If a BP. Card is lost or stolen, its use can be blocked after loss or theft of the card is reported to Nordstrom. |
"The BP. Card rewards customers each time they use it with points that are redeemable for special BP. gifts," said Soffe. "These features make the card a great way for teens to shop with Nordstrom while learning about special events and promotions that may be of interest to them."
Since spending with the BP. Card is limited to the value on the card, parents can be assured their teens are spending wisely. The monthly list of purchases also helps cardholders to better monitor their spending.
BP. Cardholders must be at least 13 years old and must reside in the U.S. Customers may sign-up for a card by calling toll free at 1-877-283-4050, through the mail, in the BP. Department of Nordstrom stores, or on-line at www.Nordstrom.com/bp.
