NORDSTROM RACK ANNOUNCES PLANS TO RELOCATE AND EXPAND ITS CHINO, CALIFORNIA STORE IN 2002
SEATTLE, Wash. - May 8, 2001 - Nordstrom Rack, the off-price retail division of leading fashion specialty retailer Nordstrom, Inc., today announced plans to relocate and expand its 30,000 square foot Chino Town Square store. The new store is scheduled to open at Spectrum Towne Center in spring 2002.
"Spectrum Towne Center offers a strong retail environment with the competitive mix of merchants we look for when selecting sites for our stores," said Kelly Cole-Berka, Nordstrom Rack vice president and southwest regional manager. "We believe the new location will allow us to better meet the needs of our customers by offering them greater selection in a larger and more up to date store."
According to Cole-Berka, the new store will be approximately 35,000 square feet, nearly 15 percent larger than the current store, and will feature a more efficient layout and design to offer customers a greater selection of merchandise. Nordstrom Rack offers brand name clothing, shoes and accessories at savings of 30 to 75 percent off regular retail prices.
Located adjacent to Highway 71 at the junction of Grand and Edison avenues, Spectrum Towne Center is scheduled to open in May 2002 and will be approximately 810,000 square feet.
Other tenants who have signed on the project include Border’s Books and Music, Tilly’s, Linen’s N Things, Pier 1 Imports, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Marshalls and Kohl’s.
Nordstrom Rack currently operates 11 stores in California and has plans to open three additional stores there this year. The new California stores will be located in Roseville, San Francisco and Oxnard.
Spectrum Town Center is being developed by Vestar Development Co., out of their Long Beach, California office. Vestar specializes in centers of 100,000 to 1,000,000 square feet in southern California, San Diego and Phoenix.
