| NORDSTROM REPORTS FEBRUARY 2002 SALES
SEATTLE, Wash. - March 6, 2002 - Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) today reported preliminary sales of $359.1 million for the four week period ending March 2, 2002, an increase of 0.6 percent compared to sales of $356.9 million for the four week period ending March 3, 2001. Same-store sales declined 4.1 percent.
Same-store sales in full-line stores decreased in all geographic regions, but increased in the Women’s Active, Intimate Apparel, Cosmetics and Kids Wear merchandise categories.
FUTURE REPORTING DATES Nordstrom’s financial release calendar for the remainder of the first quarter of fiscal 2002 is provided in the table below. Please note that beginning in fiscal 2002 (February), sales will be presented and reported according to the 4-5-4 retail calendar, after the market close, on the Wednesday before Retail Sales Day. Quarterly financial results will continue to be reported on a calendar basis.
